Registered Kinesiologist
Job Type: Contract Position, 30 hrs/week – until January, 2026
Salary: $32.65 - $38.02 an hour
Location: Mount Forest, Ontario
The Mount Forest Family Health Team is seeking a dynamic team player to join an innovative, community-based primary health care team. We are looking for an outstanding collaborative health professional to help us create a model of excellence in rural primary care.
This position supports our Low Back Pain Program offered by the Mount Forest Family Health Team.
The Kinesiologist will work collaboratively as a member of the Primary Care Low Back Pain to implement the Low Back Pain Toolkit as part of Ontario’s Low Back Pain Strategy. The team includes chiropractors, physiotherapists, nurse practitioners, occupational therapists, pharmacists, physiotherapists and primary care physicians. The kinesiologist’s role is responsible for assessing the physical functioning of patients with acute or chronic low back pain using the standardized low back pain tools; collaboratively developing and implementing a recovery and long term management plan with the team including the patient; and providing exercise interventions effectively and efficiently as part of the plan of care. The Kinesiologist shares expertise and knowledge of health resources within the community to connect patients with any appropriate services and professionals needed to support long term self-management.
Skills and Qualifications:
· Degree in Kinesiology or Human Kinetics from an accredited University. Post graduate education in Chronic Disease Management an asset
· Membership in good standing with the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario
· Experience developing and coordinating individualized conditioning programs focused on injury prevention for low back pain
· Experience in a Physiotherapy/Rehabilitation setting is an asset
· Demonstrated skills in assessment, patient coaching and education and care implementation and evaluation
· Knowledge and competency in evidence based practice
· Knowledge of client-centred philosophy, change management, basic principles and practices of primary care service delivery, and chronic disease management models
· Able to function as a team player working collaboratively with other FHT staff and community partners
· Excellent communication, organization and problem solving skills
· Ability to work flexible hours (some evening hours may be required)
· Proficiency in the use of computer and information technology
· Possesses a valid driver’s license and has access to a reliable vehicle
